Week Ten: Your Week From a Balanced View

Last week, we discussed how to write a MISSION statement for yourself at the beginning of each week...and I gave you a few questions to help you formulate your mission. This week, I'd like you to consider our overall theme of "saving money, calories and time in 2009" and personalize a VISION statement for each area of your life--making it practical enough to impact your life THIS WEEK!

For example, here would be my VISION statement for this week:

PHYSICAL--continue to walk as my mode of exercise (saving money by not paying gym dues)and eat at home more than eating out (as overall, it is better for our budget.)

EMOTIONAL--continue to forgive quickly and pray often when I'm anxious or angry, rather than dwell on the negative and give more time to those in my life who want/request it (this week: my husband).

SPIRITUAL--talk to God and listen to God before starting any other project. This summer, I especially have to be very protective of the quietest morning hours of my day.

MENTAL--carefully detailing my day by praying about my MIN whenever I feel overwhelmed, and resisting (even refusing) procrastination, and defining my dreams by regularly reviewing projects that are not due now, but must be accomplished in order to cross the "finish line."

Are you with me? Consider these 4 areas and write a vision for your week--how will you save money, calories, and time in each of these areas: physically, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally?

Be encouraged,

Becky

  1. Hi Becky and everyone

I actually made a call today. I never seem to remember to dial at just the right time. Yes I set clocks etc. It goes off and then because I am at work I get interupted 1-2 minutes before time to dial, before I know it 10-15 minutes has gone by and I have missed yet another session with you all. I plan to listen to the recorded message when I get home... life happens and there is always tomorrow, yet tomorrow comes and goes and I don't listen. Before I know it is another week and another month and here I am. Then I get defeated and the cycle continues. My life is so over committed and overbooked there is not one single minute free (okay slight exageration, but that is what it feels like.)

I have some health challenges, I am constantly fighting fatique, I am overweight, and I easily get discouraged as a result. Just when do I think life is going to change? No one is going to do this for me... I have got to do it...

I realized today that I have been missing out on some wonderful input and conversations and help. So how am I going to save Time, Calories and Money? ... by using what I paid for and by doing this online group. I also pay for weight watchers on line and have not checked in... in over a year. Talk about a waste of money... But I saved time. But I sure haven't lost any weight.

I am going to go back as far as I can on the lessons/blog postings and the phone calls, and do the work... So you may find some real late postings. But I am committed. If I miss a call do to working I will listen on my way home from work via my cell phone. (Don't know why I didn't think of that one before).

I was very silent on the call as I had not done any of this quarters work, but you all sounded like you are making great strides and accomplishing a lot.

Guess it is time you all met me...

Hi my name is Sandra and I would like to get back in the game! Would you please pray for me?

  2. Hi Sandra....absolutely, but maybe we need a group prayer.
The days and weeks go by so fast, and my intentions are usually good and results, well not so good.
Trying to keep my small businesses alive right now seems to have taken a toll on my eating, exercise, sleeping and devotional time schedules.
My chronic conditions suffer too, because the stress takes a toll that way.
So, I'll pray for you, and covet everyones prayers as well.
Becky, thanks for the call today. A lot there to ponder.

  3. I'm trying to work over the mission and vision statements and the daily to-do's.
Lots of area to cover there!
First of all, since our two small businesses have been so horribly slow, we have really been cutting back on spending. We actually had money from *last* week's spending money, leftover this week! (miracle). We're eating at home a lot, cooking very healthy and only going out once a week or so.

We've been employing new business marketing ideas and realizing it is going to take every idea we can implement for work, plus saving and having yard sales or whatever. I've been learning new computer skills on my own, designing fliers etc. My husband and I agreed on what my business tasks should be, which really helped because now I can work it into my MIN, daily and weekly plans.
Along with that, I'm trying to work caring for my diabetes, my elderly Mom, and my hobbies into my schedule.
And most important, I'm carving my devotional and quiet time out (going back to my CYL journal). That's my check in for the week.
Hope all have a blessed weekend.
