W. Clement Stone said, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail."
One of the key mis-steps we make in planning is to plan TOO LITTLE time for a project or task or errand to be completed. I want to encourage you to plan MORE time than you need to (1) drive to a location for the first time, (2) complete paperwork, (3) make an office visit, (4) park for an appointment, (5) or fix/repair/mend something. I've found that each of the listed "to-do's" often take longer than you expect. When you don't give yourself enough time, you end up either rushing or being late. Neither is acceptable IF you want to have self-control and/or peace in your demeanor.
This week, as you plan one "DAY IN ADVANCE," set aside more time than you need to do something tomorrow. And if you are early, have a book or project in your purse or car (even walking shoes) for spending your free time doing something you WANT to do!
Be encouraged!

I am just emailing in to be accountable. I have been away from home for the last three weeks. I am blessed to have this time to be with my mother and sister at the sea. However, I am the type of person that needs more than just a few days to get back into a routine. I call it my re-entry issues.
ReplyDeleteI was able to keep up with listening to the playbacks...and to be on the call this past Wednesday. I am so eager to look at my notes and catch up. It will take me a couple of rounds of listening, reading what I wrote down, and re-reading Becky's blog, to begin to apply these truths and tips. Not just the ones I played back...but all of them..on a continuing basis. I think our or my ability to apply what you are teaching us will take time and practice. But, what an encouragement to have these to practice with.
Thanks Becky

I too was thinking this is going to take time and application Patti.
ReplyDeleteI plan to make this whole series into a nice notebook that I can refer to always.
This week's topic may be a bit 'easier' for me, because I always plan about where I am going.
I don't do well finding addresses or with traffic or unusual parking situations. In fact, everyone teases me because I plan everything out so much in advance.
It also seems like my reading time is limited to when I do have appointments. If that is truly the only time I find to sit and read a book, I think I had better work on that area.
I deserve more!
Seaside,
ReplyDeleteWhen I read your comments on the blog it realy encouraged me. To apply what we are learning to our daily life. Thanks for the comments
