Week Five: From One Touch to One Day in Advance

In April we focused ourselves on how to make our lives move more in sync with God's moment-by-moment plan for our lives by turning the question into a prayer, "Lord, What is my MIN (most important now)?"

Now we are going to turn our April focus of the "MIN" to the May focus of "DIA"..."Day In Advance" planning.

Hopefully, we've trained ourselves to resist those wandering, procrastinating moments with our "MIN" prayer. The "DIA" planning is equally motivating, but more strategic. It requires that we take a "look" at tomorrow--by assessing what we need to transfer from today (because we didn't accomplish it) AND what is already on our calendar and might need a bit of attention.

In our phone call, we'll get practical, but for our blog, I want to give you a prayer before you plan...

"Lord, go before and behind me.
Show me.
Remind me.
Warn me.
Lead me...in your ways. Amen."

Expect God to prompt your thinking as you plan for tomorrow. Let Him speak to you honestly about any ways (or tasks) that you might be avoiding. Ask Him to motivate you if you are weak, being stubborn, or lazy. (Somehow, when God reveals these things to us, we don't feel condemned but motivated to change--Amen?)

Be encouraged,

Becky

  3. Quick note before this week's new session, Bought the Flat Belly book after realizing it had a whole lot more in it than just diets or recipes.
    Very good material.
Just wanted to say, if you havent seen it just because it's a 'diet' book, there is a lot more to it. And I dont work for Prevention and this isnt a paid ad!
    Blessings, all.
See you on the phone today.

  4. I didn't do well with the One Touch maybe because I am such a pack rat. I did do very well this week with Time and Calories. I joined Weight Watchers last Saturday and I have stuck with it all week. I also got my husband to join with me. We like doing things together. I have finally found a plan to spend 1 hour a day with God that is working for me. I have been sticking with it for the past couple weeks and it is working out well. I read todays OT and Proverb in the morning and the NT and Psalm at night. A lot of times before I would fall asleep while reading at night but now I don't. I have a much closer communication with God now.

  6. Becky, I like that prayer you gave us, and need to post it somewhere where I use it every day.
I am one who is used to writing everything in a planner daily, but my problem is, I leave way too many little notes and lists all over the house. Then when I go to merge things I have not managed to get done in the day, I have so many pieces of paper I get tired just moving them all. I have serious "List Clutter".
I think I need List Makers Anonymous......

I am happy to send you a copy of "The Flat Belly Diet" the next book coupon I get...I can't imagine how long it will take you to get a copy at the library! I am happy to do it...it will be a reference book you can use for a long time. Send me your address. (I am from Denver- 25 years)
Just wanted to share something I read recently in Guideposts...It was a story about a woman who lost 150 lbs. The whole jist of the story was that she finally surrendered herself to God's leading in her life, and with His help, she perservered to lose the weight. Highly rec. looking it up at guidepostmag.com/weightloss...her name is Jane, and it is from the June 2008 magazine. Really encouraging message because she had tried so many times to lose weight without any long term results. With God, all things are possible...which brings me to "one touch" ing my email etc. Thank you Becky for all your help - it is really helping me! Also, the planning ahead is HUGE! WOW! I just have to be disciplined to keep doing it daily. Thank you Lord for your help in this! What is my MIN?!

  8. I agree with everyone on the Great Prayer...and I also have a huge problem with paper. I have papers for work and papers at home and sticky notes on my door as I leave the house and I leave sticky notes to my kids. I am going to try to come up with a better way. Anyway,

HUGBEAR, thanks that would be great. I would love it. I will call regie (beckys office assistant)and have her give you my E-mail. thanks so much.
